Hello all,
I thought I'd share with you all a geeky secret - Jack & I love a good bit of Studio Ghibli {a Japanese animation film study}
especially
My Neighbour Totoro - for any of you that haven't seen it, or heard of it - you should definitely give it a go!! I'm not into anime in any way, but I have love their films, and the characters they create!
Anyway - when I was looking for presents for Jack for his birthday back in February I stumbled upon this awesome
which specialises in geeky custom cookie cutters so I got him a little selection: some little Totoros and a cute little 'Mario Star'. Last week we had a go at making some little sugar cookies and they turned out rather well if I do say so myself!
Apologies in advance for the sub standard photography in comparison to the usual blog post offerings - I was totally distracted by the cuteness of the cookies and an inability to stop eating the raw cookie dough {it was just too good}.
{ingredients}
250g flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking powder
115g butter
200g granulated sugar
1 large egg
2 tbsp lime juice
{here's how}
1//. Preheat oven to 170 degrees & cover a baking tray with greaseproof paper.
2//. In your mixing bowl - combine the flour, salt & baking powder.
3//. In a separate bowl {or in a food processor} cream together sugar and butter until smooth & fluffy.
4//. Add in your egg and whizz, then add your flour mixture to your food processor & mix at low speed until all combined.
5//. Pop your dough back into your mixing bowl & chill for 30 minutes.
6//. On a *well* floured surface, roll out your cookie dough {trying not to eat all of it as it's SO good!} & cut into your cute shapes.
7//. Bake for 8-10 minutes, until you notice slightly brown edges.
8//. Leave to cool on a wire rack & decide whether you fancy adding icing!
We made a tonne of cookies and decided to leave them without icing so that we could admire their cute little faces - but we did make some stewed plums to have with them instead {it was
so
good}.
Hopefully you liked this little recipe & aren't going to shun me for unleashing some of my inner geek on you all!
xo.
