5 {simple} things

Hello all,

Happy Monday again! I hope you all had a good week? Here's the things that made last week ace.

Apologies for the fairly poor photography this week - there were a distinct lack of white backgrounds out & about!
1//. this awesome cone of raspberry pavlova & coconut gelato with sprinkles {excuse the post allotment nail polish!} for starting the week off right!
2//. these & several other parcels of goodies for arriving throughout the week & filling me with child-like glee!
3//. this little beauty for doing so well after its 'beheading' - no less than 7 new baby plants have grown from the stump!
4//. these lovely new allotment additions for being grown by people with mental health problems & learning disabilities which in turn raises much needed money & awareness for the charity 'mind'.
5//. THIS awesome homemade Sunday breakfast for reminding me just how good having a rare weekend off work can be!
All in all a great week - other than suffering from hideous back pain {helped by copious amounts of Ibuprofen!}.

As always, here's to another good week & lots of opportunities to enjoy the small stuff!

xo.

p.s. here's a bonus simple thing that made me chuckle:
benji enjoying his car ride home last week!

new year. new pals: CamBlogMeet!

Hello all!

Apologies for the silence this week - I've had a week of scary mary interviews and so my mind has very much been a little per-occupied!

Alas though - yesterday I got my hands on my GORGEOUS new baby, the baby whose keyboard on which I type! I bought a new retina display MacBook Pro...and I think I'm in love!

Anyway, enough of that - onto the exciting part of this post - the CamBlogMeet! So, as you probably already know, probably definitely, myself, Claire, Harriet & Stacie organised a little creative meet up in Cambridge - hoorah! Well, last Saturday the day was upon us, and Harriet, Laura and I got the train up to Cambridge...

We started with a yummy little lunch accompanied by smoothies and the odd cocktail at TaBouche, which was super awesome. Claire had pulled together some awesome goodie bags which us little organisers added our own little additions for everyone too! After lunch we headed into the centre of town for a lovely sunny touristy walk!

You can see right there...amazeballs cattoos from Harriet, a little 'hello friend' card by moi, awesome stickers from Stacie, a sweet little postcard from the lovely Emma Block :) a cute little ring by Claire, as well as sweet smelling soap courtesy of Lush, Tea from Teapigs, wash tape from washitapes.co.uk and a little bag of goodies from the ladies at Crafty Creatives! Thank you all for so many sweet gifts!
Photo courtesy of the lovely Harriet Gray!
Those last three were courtesy of the ace Claire! :)
The rest of the photos were taken by yours truly! Isn't Cambridge beautiful eh? I got city envy!
Thanks to Tyrrells for our free crispies! :)
It was ace to finally meet Stacie and Claire and Kelly {I'd already meet my bezzies Laura and Harriet}, as well as meet the lovely Emma Block and Emma Carlisle. Not only did I meet these ladies, but lots of new creative pals too!

Thank you to all of the lovely ladies that attended, it was amazing to meet so many lovely like-minded people!

I super look forward to the next meet, wherever that may be!

Have a lovely weekend team!

{hello} winchester

Hello all!

Happy Monday! Jack & I headed into Winchester on Friday for a little jaunt around the pretty town and to have a nice pre-birthday lunch {it was Jack's birthday on Sunday!}.

We actually popped in to lots of nice shops, including my all time fave for home inspiration - The Hambledon - which, I must say didn't disappoint! If you don't live near Winchester, they have an awesome website and online shop now so you can have a little peek at that here!

After having a little wander round the shops we stopped at Jamie Oliver's restaurant - Union Jacks. It's really good, I happened to stumble upon it with a friend on its opening day, and Jack was most jealous  - so I thought it only fair to take him for a little pre-birthday lunch!

Please excuse the pictures....I apparently can't handle manual focus in low light!! {BOO}

Hope you had an ace weekend too!

p.s I also had a custom order from a lovely lady of 40 illustrated notebooks! Hoorah! :)

{etsy update} a new little item...

Hello all,

Firstly, I do hope you're all well and had a lovely weekend - apologies for the lack of post yesterday, I received some very sad news, so blogging was the last thing on my mind. You might also find that posting in general over here for the next few days is a little sparse too, so apologies in advance for that.

I thought I'd just share a little one with you today...I've designed this teeny tiny cake stand for your enjoyment! He's now listed over on my little Etsy shop and would make a lovely little stocking filler for the baking lover in your life!
He's a mere 12cm in diameter, making him the ultimate stand for a little cupcake OR one of these or even a mini version of this OR a wee pile of these.
The possibilities are endless!

Enjoy...

{nom} a weekend treat!

Hello all,

I do so hope you had a lovely relaxing weekend? I was working ALL weekend so I must say it wasn't as crafty a weekend as I'd love to have had!

Ask yourself this - why do people {in the UK anyway} only eat pancakes one day a year?

'Pancake Day' is a super exciting day, and don't get me wrong I'm not trying to make it into just another day...but, pancakes are too good to ration like that!

So, in my house we've embraced a new tradition - 'Pancake Sundays'. I look forward to it throughout the week and each Sunday we try to have something new with our classic pancakes...so on this chilly Monday - I propose to you - ditch the porridge and knock up a cheeky stack of pancakes.

That is all.
Happy Monday :)

xo.

p.s. those pancakes up there made my Sunday!

{hello} Wilderness Festival!

Hello all,

As you most probably know, this weekend I was lucky enough to enjoy a whole three days in the glorious sunshine of Cornbury Park with my lovely boy Jack.

Wilderness was absolutely amazing! The festival itself was set in woodlands and had THE coolest {freezing cold} swimming lake - which I definitely made the most of. I could write a massive post about how ace everything was - it was all ace - especially the food - well - the ice-cream, rhubarb crumble icecream none the less...I will need to find the recipe! Anyway, a massive long post is not what I'm going to write as for those of you not there it would totally be a massive *yawn* moment..

So, instead I'm sharing some pretty pictures of the weekend for you to enjoy! Cue many wildernessy pretty shots and several potentially vom inducing - but very cute couple shots!

If you get the chance next year - go.

{moroccan travel} our mini adventure...

Hello!

As I'm sure all of you are aware, I have just returned from a short break to the wonderfully culture-filled capital of Morocco - Marrakech! Bing and I decided we ought to get away somewhere warm this summer, even if for just 4 nights {and warm it certainly was!}.

Apologies for the fairly small number or Souk photos compared to pool side shots...as you can probably guess we did spend most of our time attempting to catch some rays - well I did. Bing turned super tanned like Malibu Barbie...I have, unfortunately remained Casper white, perhaps a shade closer to the colour of living beings! With the temperature reaching 50 Degrees {120 Fahrenheit!} I must admit I did retreat to the shade a fair bit!

We started at Gatwick North Terminal, having left the house at the disgustingly early hour of 1.30am! Jamie Oliver has just opened a restaurant in the terminal so to say we sprinted there at 6am is an understatement. Bing had the Full Monty - it looked literally insanely good, and I had a fresh pink grapefruit juice and scrambled eggs with smoked salmon and tatty scones - it was totally nom!
Safety first!
Yes window seat!
Looking pretty hot already!
 {hello!} The pool was dreamy
 View from our room at night!
 Entering the Souk - cheeky little look from that gent in the van!
 Wish these dates were ripe...
 This little man was collecting all of the used orange skins from the millions of fresh orange juice stalls
{SO nom nom nom and only 4 Dirham that's 30p!}
 We didn't brave a ride on one of these - the horses were pretty stinky, and they looked pretty over worked :(
 On our way to the Medina
So much spice!
I don't think I've ever had a more bizarre spa experience! Loved the cringey typography though!
 This face mask burned so much we literally kept it on for like 30 seconds...
 This was the life...
Trying to rock a fringe despite the insane humidity.
Homeward bound...

Marrakech is a wonderfully diverse and actually really safe city, I would definitely vouch for it to anyone considering a short, hot, city break. A good deal can be had in the markets, there is an amazing wealth of spices, jewellery and hand made leather and wooden goods. Food is really inexpensive and the tagines are out of this world, also it's super cheap for a glass of orange juice squeezed right before your eyes! A word for the wise though - don't drink the tap water, or have ice in drinks and be careful with fresh fruit - no one likes a dicky tummy on holiday eh? Our hotel was apparently 5* and to be honest it was really nice and clean and the staff were great but it certainly didn't feel like European or US 5* more like 3* or 4*.

I must say thanks to the ever lovely Bing Bong, she kindly allowed me to steal her iPhone 4S every five seconds as I've managed to scratch the camera on my phone to oblivion!

All in all we had the most wonderful time, just enough to relax and unwind and not long enough to get bored or antsy. Such a shame the weather back home has been so miserable - but {wahey!} to sunshine next week - bring it on!

xo.

{colour ways} Magical Morocco

Inspired by all of the wonderful colours of Marrakech's Souk (market), today's colour ways takes on a very Moroccan Twist. Here is my little short list of what to take//wear//buy in Morocco.
{clockwise from left}
//. Moroccan Oil :
Perfect for taming those over sun exposed and pool crispified ends!

//. Kaftan Dress :
Gorgeous lightweight floaty dress from ASOS, great for the insanely hot weather and pretty modest too {we wore maxi dresses into the city out of respect, but this does cover the shoulders and come the the knee}.

//. Carpe Diem Journal :
I love this 'Seize the Day' Journal. It's made for reflecting and planning your big ideas whilst lounging by the pool.

//. Tagine :
You need to tuck into a traditional meat//fish//veggie tagine if you visit Morocco, slow cooked, heavily spiced and full of fruit - they are super delish!

//. Leather Pouf :
These come in all different colours of died leather. They're hand made and just gorgeous. I didn't get one this time but next time I most definitely will!

//. Spice Cones {via here} :
These are gorgeous bursts of colour all over the Souk - the smell is amazing and the sellers are such characters!

//. YSL Ring :
I've lusted after this ring for what feels like forever! Gold, Silver and Turquoise are everywhere you look in the markets. I didn't see any Yves Saint Laurent rings, but I did have to rein in my desire to buy handfuls of the gorgeous hand made jewellery like a magpie!

Tomorrow I'll be posting a little more about my short break in Africa - it's crazy to think you can now just pop over to Africa for a few days for very few pennies!

how can the clouds still have water left in them?

Hello all,

Today I thought I'd give a little update on what I've been up to over the weekend and what my plans are for my last week of being an invalid (I'm SUPER excited to get back to work by the way!!). So the weather has been pretty horrendous to say the least over the last few week. I genuinely can't even comprehend how the clouds can still have rain left in them?

Anyway, this weekend was rather lovely as Jack had the weekend off work (he commutes to London during the week for his postgrad and works all weekend). Those that follow me on Instagram (ohnorachio) will know already that he kicked the weekend off by making me a lovely breakfast of eggy bread, smoky bacon and maple syrup - yum!

We then jumped in the car to head down to Somerset to pick up the desk of our dreams from the lovely family whom we bought it on eBay from. It's literally our pride and joy and something Jack has been lusting after FOREVER - it's a ridiculously expensive solid oak desk from Habitat that the lovely Ollie sold us for the bargain price of £40! Here is our new baby:

The desk was literally the highlight of the Saturday and we spent most of the afternoon revelling in it's beauty - Jack was desperate for a desk to do his thesis on but we couldn't afford to get a really nice one.

On Sunday we had my family over for a meal of slow cooked pulled pork and home made pitta and coleslaw and all sorts of lovely things - here is the pork at 9am ready to go into the oven! It was super yum by the way!

Today, I was going to do a test walk into town - ready for going back to work next week - wanted to see if the old knees could take it yet! Sadly, rain stopped play - I was not going to get soaked to the skin and freezing!

So, I decided to start the project I've been wanting to do for ages, as a tutorial for the blog (going up later in the week), and that was to create my lovely sewing machine an attractive new cover as the old plastic white one it came with was looking pretty gross...

Without further ado, here is a sneak peek of said new cover....tutorial to follow :)

Lots more to come this week, hopefully everyone had a lovely weekend and you aren't feeling too down about all this rain!
