some sad news...

Hello all,

A bit of a personal one from me today. Last Monday my wonderful grandmother sadly passed came as a real shock, but I'm glad that I was able to go and see her on Sunday {thank you to work for allowing me to take the day off with no notice}. Losing a loved one is always terribly hard...but it's comforting at least to know that she lived a very long, happy life and is now resting right beside my beloved grandpa!

I just thought it might be nice to share a little photo of her with you...she really was just an amazing woman. She and my grandpa looked after me on a weekly basis from being a baby and so I was always very close to my grandparents. I'm therefore lucky enough to have so many great memories of the two of them.

She used to love telling us stories of times when she was young. Especially her time in Colwyn Bay during the war where she worked for the 'Ministry of Food' for three years when she was in her later teens. She was relocated there away from central London where she lived with her family for safety! Her father used to meet her at Euston station from the 'milk train' that arrived really early in the morning!

Anyway, it's such a shame that I'll no longer hear all of her lovely stories but I'm glad to have heard so many. I don't know about you but I love to hear stories of times gone by!

Make the most of the precious time you have with your own grandparents if they're still alive - I urge you this Christmas to take the time to ask them about their past, because when they're gone - all of those wonderful stories go with them...gather those stories so that you can share them with your own family one day!

I hope you all had a nice weekend...
