blog hop.

A little break this week from the usual photography tips series today to bring you something different!

Last Monday I was nominated by the very talented Clare Nicolson {who also takes some of the most beautiful photographs} to take part in a blog hop. It's a great opportunity to learn a little bit about some of your {hopefully} favourite bloggers and possibly discover some new ones! So here goes...

1. What have been the doings/makings/scribblings at your desk this week?

//. Well last week was, for the most part filled with lots and lots of lovely guest books - tis the wedding season, and I've felt very privileged to have been commissioned to illustrate so many guest books for a whole host of loved up couples!

//. I've also been super busy illustrating up the metric ton of notebooks that made up my exclusive one-offs sale that went live yesterday. It's been really fun going 'off grid' and creating so many fun new designs! Watch this space as it's filled me with inspiration for a new range!

//. I had a sweet little memory book commission...

//. ...and I had this little bundle 'helping' me at the desk too...

2. Where are you currently finding your inspiration?

//. I find an endless supply of inspiration on Pinterest - I can spend hours scrolling through reams and reams of beautiful images! I like to draw little snippets of inspiration such as new colour palettes or interesting patterns from interiors images. I'm big on pretty living spaces and I love pulling out pieces of inspiration from swoon-worthy homes and gardens!

Here's one of my all time favourites:

Everything about that image fills me with glee - that mid century sofa; the fabulous bold patterned upholstery; the starkly contrasting white floor & walls; the art on the back wall. I love how the key pieces within the two rooms totally consume your attention and create such a bold style.

//. It's all too easy though to lose your life to browsing Pinterest for inspiration and not actually doing anything with those ideas - so I also like to head outside, the New Forest is literally on my door step and I've found lots of great snippets of inspiration right there. Particularly different ferns and leaves which I've incorporated into some of my notebook designs!

3. How important is being creative to you, and how do you blend this with your work / life / family balance?

//. Creativity is completely central to what I do, it's my livelihood and my passion - I eat, sleep & breath it. Though sometimes, because its so important - I can find myself applying a little too much pressure to be 'creative' every day, to have a constant supply of new designs and ideas.

That's where the work/life balance comes in. I find that taking little breaks with pals, whether that's just lunch out in town, grabbing some tea & cake or taking a day trip to London, or the beach - I always come back with a much clearer head, and when the pressure is off it's so much easier to create!
